Germany began to build the modern army after 1933. The important part of Wehrmacht motorization was manufacturing of three-axle 3 t trucks. The most numerous of them was Henschel 33. It was in production lines since 1934 to 1942. The modification D1 had 6-cyl. petrol engine. All in all there were produced about 22000 Henschel 33. During WWII, the legendary Studebaker US6, became the symbol of the American Lend-Lease program. This excellent vehicle was developed by the famous Studebaker company from an order placed by the US Government. The first mass produced US6 left the production line in June 1941. The Studebaker US6 was not used as the standard US Army truck, and so the Allies became its main users. Most of the US6s were delivered to The Soviet Union. In the Red Army, Studebakers were used not only for carrying loads, transporting troops, and as gun tractors, but they were also the base for a variety of different installations, such as various multiple launch rocket systems. In the USSR the US6, nicknamed “Studer”, proved extremely popular due to its reliability and excellent cross country performance.

Since 1940 to 1943 Stoewer produced the simplified model Type 40 without the rear wheels steering gear. All in all there were produced about 13000 le.gl.Einheits-Pkw. Uniform cars were appeared to be too heavy, too complicated and unreliable in the real exploitation. le.gl.Einheits-Pkw cars were produced with different types of bodies – in particular, Kfz.1 –four-seat personnel car.

The three-axle off-road passenger car G4 (W31) was designed dy Daimler-Benz in 1934. This car had 8-cylinder engine of 100 (later 110) hp and 6 passenger seats. The car was intended for the German army but it appeared very expansive and too complicated for the mass production. There were produced only 72 G4 cars up to the 1939.
